There are several ways that you could turn your guitar hobby into an income stream. Here are just a few ideas...
- Provide music for restaurants and coffee houses
- Provide music for special occasions, such as weddings, birthdays, etc.
- Create jingles for radio or tv commercials
- Provide guitar music for tv specials
- Sell songs and CDs over the internet
- Become a guitar teacher
This is not some "pie-in-the-sky' advice I'm giving you. I've actually done each one (except jingles for radio or tv), so you can too! If you are just a beginner guitar player you may not be convinced that you have any real talent yet. But I suggest you give yourself some time to develop your skills before making any judgments as to your ability.
Perhaps you have other gifts or hobbies, such as songwriting, that you could use to develop into an income stream. The first step is to figure out what it is that you absolutely love to do!
Consider Your Interests
sports, art, music, animals, books, poetry, cooking, theology, crafts, cars, science, horticulture, hiking, etc.
Consider Your Background Environment
early childhood experiences and development, family traits, things you enjoyed doing as a child
Consider Your Personality
extrovert, introvert, likes & dislikes, behavior patterns, reactions to particular situations... What makes you happy? Sad? Angry? Compassionate? What motivates you?
Consider Your Strengths and Weaknesses
what are you good at? what do you find difficult?
Write down your discoveries, then look for a pattern to emerge. There may be several traits or areas of interest that unfold before your eyes. Try to determine Which area you are most strongly drawn to. If more than one, can they be combined?
For example...
I like to sing and write- especially poems and song lyrics. I love music and playing the guitar. These hobbies obviously combine very nicely. I also have a knack for teaching and I am a self-starter. My curiousity drives me to explore and learn new things. All of these traits combined together have helped me turn my hobby into an income stream as a private guitar teacher.
Now I also teach guitar from my own website.
Being online provided me with several new opportunities, such as selling my songs over the internet and having two of them used in a tv special. In addition to this, I continually earn a passive income from my website through google ads and affiliate programs.
So you can see how my guitar hobby led me to discover the perfect job match for my personality type, skills, and interests! You can do the same! It's not hard. Visit my website and learn more about:

Nice tip about knowing your real interest..I think anyone can be a good guitarist if he/she wishes to. It's just a matter of practice, perseverance and focus. Steve Krenz, a professional guitarist and a teacher wrote a blog post about the secret of guitar pros - perseverance. It's actually a pretty motivating post for those beginners who are trying to learn the guitar on their own. anyway, here's the blog post : Guitar Lessons Blog by Steve Krenz.
I admire your success story, very encouraging one! Keep it up!
Guitar music is everywhere... right? If you're interested in playing and learning, you can find some online tutorial! It'll turn to money or income? It depends actually. But what matter most is that you will enjoy what you're doing. Not just the word INCOME.. but also to SHARE your music and skills! God Bless everyone!
