DO MUSIC "MIRACLES" REALLY HAPPEN?

This probably seems like a strange title for an indie-music guitar blog, but it does convey my thoughts clearly. Have you ever felt like you're not getting anywhere with your music when all of a sudden- poof, the unexpected "miracle" happens? Well, that's what happened to me last month!

It all started on a day when I was feeling a little sorry for myself and thinking about pulling my songs off the internet. Then, out of the blue, I received an interesting email. It was from a man who said he was a TV producer. He had read my blog titled: HURRICANE KATRINA - Can Music Help? and wondered if I would be interested in letting him use one of my songs in a documentary special he was producing about the catastrophe. Can you believe it? To be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first. Out of all the millions of indie-artists on the web, what are my chances of getting a genuine opportunity to be heard by an international audience? Especially since my music has only been online for a short time.

Anyway, after checking the guy out, I was convinced that he was legit and the offer was sincere. So, my husband and I gave him a call. Turns out, he wanted to use two songs we had written, Take My Hand and Hope, on his program! We just finished recording Hope, so it is not available online yet, but you can listen to Take My Hand if you want to by clicking the link.

This all goes to show that miracles do happen sometime. Though, I must admit that it put me in a position of having to "practice what I preach" (if you've read the blog I mentioned earlier, then you know what I mean.) But, to tell you the truth, I consider it such a priviledge to be part of something that is meant to bring comfort and hope to so many hurting people.

The show is called HURRICANE KATRINA - A Test of Faith and it is scheduled to air on TBN November 20, 2005. As you can probably guess, my husband and I are very excited about this and we want to share it with everyone we know! Please visit Primary Focus and check their program schedule to find out what channels will be broadcasting it in your area. Tell your friends too! All the shows they produce are available on video and DVD also.

This experience has given me some new ideas of how to help you get your music heard too. So, be sure not to miss my upcoming blogs by simply clicking on the "add to my yahoo" button found at the bottom right-hand side of this page. One piece of advice that I can share with you right now is the importance of creating an informative press release. You can use the one I wrote recently as an example if you'd like.
